NT6 Update 06/01/21

Dear Sixth Form Students and Parents,

Firstly, happy new year to you all.

As you will know, school is closed to the vast majority of students, including the Sixth Form until mid-February at the earliest. Lessons are compulsory for all students, in all subjects, and will run via the Teams App. Students can access this via their school Office 365 accounts. If you are unsure how to access these, please use the Online Teaching and Learning tab on our website or call the Sixth Form mobile for further guidance.

You may well have heard the announcement by Boris Johnson yesterday surrounding exams. He explained that exams will look different and that the examination boards are coming up with a plan. Whilst we don’t know what that plan is yet, we want to reassure you of a few things:

  • Attending lessons online this half term will be vital – the work you do and the learning you receive will count towards a final grade (however that is determined).
  • The October and (Year 13) December Mid-Term Assessments alone will not determine your final grade.
  • It is likely that a range of assessments and work, possibly some form of formal examination, will determine your final grade.
  • You will be back in school soon and can expect to sit your PPEs (mock exams) as planned in March. The online lessons will help you to prepare for these.
  • Those who have January exams, keep revising for now. Further information will be sent to you as soon as we hear from exam boards/government advice.

Any students with outstanding UCAS applications need to contact Mr Booth as soon as possible. The deadline for applications is the 15th January.

Any students wishing to have online interview practice before a University or job interview should contact Mr Hammersley using the details below.

Ultimately, Sixth Form, we’ve got you. We know how to make sure you get those grades you deserve. You just need to do your bit – attend every lesson online, submit the work and dig deep. We can’t wait to see you back here when it is safe to do so.

We wish you all the very best over the next 6 weeks. If you need anything, please contact us via the Sixth Form mobile, or contact us via email on sixthform@tretherras.net

Yours sincerely
The Sixth Form Team
