Return to Sixth Form – Covid Testing for Years 12 & 13

Dear Sixth Form Students,

I’m sure you are aware of the recent news regarding the return to school. I wanted to give you more detail on this and how testing will take place in school over the first 2 weeks back (from March 8th). Year 12 Students

  • All Year 12 students are expected back from Monday March 8th.
  • There will be no lessons on this day, you just need to get tested.
  • You need to test negative before resuming classes so will be tested in tutor groups from 12.00 pm – 2.40 pm on Monday March 8th.
  • You will be emailed the time you are expected to be in school.
  • You will be tested (it takes 10 minutes) and then go home (unless you need to get a bus back).
  • You will receive your result via your phone.
  • If you test negative, you will start school as normal with registration from 8.40 am on Tuesday 9th March.
  • Registration is compulsory as we need to go through a number of tasks before resuming lessons.

Year 13 Students

  • As with Year 12 everyone needs to test negative before starting your PPE’s and/or resume lessons.
  • As there are no vocational exams, all BTEC and Cambridge Technical lessons will run from Tuesday 9th March.
  • All students sitting PPE’s on Monday March 8th have already been contacted with their test time before the exams start.
  • This is 8.15 am before the morning exams (9 am) and 12.00 pm before the afternoon session (1 pm).
  • All Year 13 students who are not taking an exam on Monday (including all Vocational students) will take their tests with the rest of their tutor group from 12.20 pm on Monday March 8th. You will be sent the time to be in school.
  • As per the Year 12’s, once you have taken the test you can go home and wait for the result.
  • If negative, you will either come in for your exams or lessons (as explained above) from Tuesday 9th March.

Once you have tested negative, you are able to be in school full time.

All students are to be tested 3 times over the next 2 weeks. We will tell you the days and times of your final 2 tests as soon as they are arranged (we need to know if there are any positive tests before doing this). You will come out of lessons for this to happen, or they will be arranged before an exam (for Year 13 A level students).

From Monday 22nd March you will be expected to self-test at home, using kits provided by the government. As soon as we know more about this protocol we will let you know.

I hope this all makes sense, if you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact us via the Sixth Form mobile.
We are really looking forward to welcoming you all back into the Sixth Form from the 8th of March.

Best regards.
